I'm currently using Winchester 231 Ball powder for my 44-40 blank loads.  10 grains pretty much fills the case before I put the primer in. I would like a little more noise and smoke without using black powder.  Does anyone have a suggestion?  I use plastic cartridges that have a relief crisscross on nose of the cartridge.  No plastic is left in the bore.

try 10-15gr.s of acc #9;  11 gr.s in my CZ52 case makes big booming, much flashling much fireball

Thanks pakam, I tried 10.0 gr of Acc #7 and it is much lowder than Win 231.  10.0 gr puts it just right at the bottom of the primer.

texas,
I have used 231 in higher doses than 10 grs and it is definitely loud. If you fill the case with b.p. over your 10 gr load of 231....more noise, smoke and cleaner cases. ;D

Thanks W44, I'll try that.  And thanks for all the replys.
