Here is what I have done so far on my first complete gun rig. I can only work on it about two to four hours and then, depending on what I'm doing to it, I need to take a few days off for my hands to work again. Sewing and lacing really take a toll on me. So that you'll know what you are looking at here, these images are for the "belly gun" holster. I have the gun belt and the holster for the 7 1/2" SAA and then knife sheath mostly made up. I just need to lace the edges of them. What you see in the pictures are the pieces cut out of the patterns. I made the patterns from the actual guns. The main body of the holster is 6 oz. horse hide. The lining is pigskin suede and the "cattlegator" outer layer is some very heavily embossed cowhide that I got from Tandy. The rest all came from Zack White.

These are four basic pieces of the holster.

How the gun fits to then welt.

A close up of the "cattlegator".
I will no longer respond to the rants of the small minded that want to sling mud rather than discuss in an adult manner.

Looks good, Bugs. That will make a fine holster.

It looks like you have a nice gusset cut from several layers of leather. Make sure that there are no places for the gun to get stuck when you draw. You may want to shave down the area between the ejector lever and the cylinder pin so it comes out easily.

It'll be fun to follow you along with this project.
