Gentlemen
I've very recently acquired an 1865 56-50 carbine with a very good bore.  Today, I shot it using the replacement center fire breech block, Starline 56-50 cases, 37 gr. 2F, and the 365 gr. bullet lubed with "Spence's Lube".  My carbine shoots about a foot high at both 50 and 100 yards and the trigger pull is expremely heavy.  Anybody have a good fix for the heavy trigger, or know of a good way to get a higher front sight?
Thanks
Hank

The tail end of the main spring is the trigger spring. If you thin this part of the sprimg  you will lighten the trigger pull
I put a new front post on to lower bullet impact. Maybe you can find a tac welder to heightenn the post there.

Most early guns were zeroed at 200 yards.  Try it at that range.  I'd say if your doing good left and right... your doing great!

I would not mess with an antique for any reason.. just get used to it and you'll be a tack driver!
