I've decided to cast a silver front sight for the Ruger. I'll make a oversized copy from steel and then sand cast it and hand fit. Just looking at which metal glue is the best for the application. JB weld and certain kinds of loctite seem to be good options that I can get over here in Europe. There seems to ba a lot of different opnion on which locitite to use and looking on thier website, there are a bunch to choose from. Any experience out there?

tin is your best glue.

glueing wont stand impacts in such a small holding  surface as a front sight...even Araldite and the best loctites wont fix a whole front sight with the strenght of a weld, be it soft, or hard (above 450 ºC).

Good solution for today, but not for tomorrow. Your other option is regrow as I explained with Smaw.

I remember a black loctite, of around 20 euros a small bottle, that was reallty tough, but it wont last much in a SAA front sight.

If what  you want is  a silver front sight in a SAA,  you should weld it as the old masters did. All other modern options, are not long lasting and not professional.

I have had very good results attaching a front sight with JB Weld, when silver solder was not an option.  The oldest is just 8 - 9 years old, but still attached.  The site MUST be thoroughly clean and th JB Weld properly mixed.

Petrinal.....you are mixing up the terms proffesional and the term traditional. Professional is what works effectively for the job in hand. Traditional is just that...what they used in the old days. Still works but epoxy is easier and does'nt require reblueing. Modern 2 part "glues" hold Boeings and Airbuses together and their sheering resistance is more than enough to hold a front sight in place, better than soft soldering. And Pettifogger said, the sight was brazed in.......that means serious heat to remove it. That ruins the blueing. Not going to happen. It's getting milled out. As there are so many adhesives on the market I want advice on which one are suitable for firearms.

Ordered some Loctite Super Steel 2 part epoxy. Similar to JB weld in the USA and is resistant to oils, chemicals and heat.
