Glen was among the fastest back in the 50s when Fast Draw was very popular. Rodd Redwing taught Ford a little trick. See the vertical strip on the rig just in front of the holster. Glen was very fast with the thumbcock, fire, and with a very quick forward movement he would rake the hammer on the strip, cocking the hammer and firing again. He performed this trick in the movie where he was a killer turned preacher. I believe it was when the young gun challlenged him in front of the church.

I believe when Redwing taught Ford, Redwing had three or four bullet loops with rounds in them placed in that position  to perform this "trick".
