Managed to source a Henry locally. Not exactly what I was wanting, but slightly more interesting. I was hoping for a simple 1860 Henry, but I wound up with a transitional model that's been engraved. Any suggestions for commercial 44-40 ammo? Not a reloaded and would like to put a few rounds through this "New Orleans Business Man's" beauty.

Welcome  # 158.  Grenadier

Your first order might be to post a photo on the BB  ;)

For you 44/40 you might try Ammo To Go for some Black Hills (979) 277-9676 in Brenham Tx. or Cabella's
you may find however, most ammo is out of stock....there is a heavy run on buying right now  ::)

when planets align...do the deal !

Morning Major,

Thanks for the advice!

I managed to source two boxes of Hornady "cowboy" loads yesterday. I was taken to the cleaners on the pricing, but when you gotta have something, you gotta have it  :-\

I just hate having a firearm in the house that has nothing to eat, in case it should get hungry. At these prices, I am going to have to pick up the hobby of reloading, if it is only for a few of my favorite calibers.

I also just picked up a henry transitional model. and it's in .44-40. the first shot is pretty much to point of aim. the next ten shots are 3 inches to the right of the first one. and that's at 25 yards. but other than that, it''s a keeper. and yes. I reload .44-40, I also have a pedersoli lighting in .44-40 it's a slick little shooter also. I would love to shoot some steel targets with these guns. it would be a trip!
