Rain on the Rock

Howdy Pards,

Got rained on at the Rock River Regulators shoot at the Beloit, WI Rifle Club.  They shoot twice a month, the 1st and 3rd Saturdays.  Great outfit to shoot with.  Good stages, good scripts and best yet, absolutely great shooters.  Stoney Mike ramrods the shoots and he's just plain fun.

Well, I got rained out after the first stage last Saturday (May 4), and headed back to the ranch.  Now, I have guns to clean after only one stage.  Here's the interesting part.  Those guns won't be any dirtier than they would be after a full three day annual match.  You see, I shoot only black powder and only Big Lube bullets.  All that lube keeps the fouling soft so that your second shot and your last shot encounter the same amount of fouling.  The down side, if there is one, is that after one stage my guns will be as dirty as they ever get.

Cleaning them will be a snap though.  A spritz of moosemilk and a tug of the boresnake and presto pronto, clean as a whistle.

Hope I don't get rained out next match, but if I do it'll be the same routine all over again.

Did everybody bail or just the BP shooters? It rains a lot here in Western Orygun but generally not in downpours so we tough it out. We rarely get driving torrents of rain.

Mostly heathen fad smokeyless shooters bailed out.  I bailed but I don't know if any other BP shooters did or not.  Some shooters stayed, many left.

My guns are all nice and clean now and resting in their racks.
