Had a blast shooting a 12 ga. SxS muzzleloading shotgun at the NCOWS match with the Sweetwater Regulators. The knock-down targets fell over with authority, although, even with a capper and capping on the clock it seemed like it took forever to get those little buggers on the nipples.

The fun in owning a percussion double barrel is the two necked powder/shot flask you can carry around.

I'd like to get one of those, but for now I'm using a Colt style powder flask with a 90 grain spout, and a homemade shot flask with an English style spout because the original flask I had fell apart.

I was using saturated felt wads for fouling control, and at the end of the day there was barely any fouling in the barrels.

It was really cool to see Flatbush shoot his Muzzle Loading Shot Gun along with his 1860 Percussion Colts and Henry. This was a NCOWS match and he shot in the "Pistoleer" category.

Several years ago a good buddy of mine and stage writer extraordinaire got together (conspired) and wrote stages for our match that had two shotgun fallers for each stage. It was a fun match and no shotgun misses for either of us.

Paper cartridges for the muzzle loading shotgun is a good way to load.
You can make a powder, wad & shot column....or easier, just a paper cylinder containing the shotcharge. Load powder from flask, add wad, shot-cylinder (paper, containing shot) & the overpowder wad. When shooting a lot, spritz some cleaning solvent down the bore after loading to keep fouling soft.

I really like stages having only two shots of shotgun anyway....whether muzzle -loaded or not.
Also like having an all-shotgun stage for our club's annual match, good way to mix it up.
