i just got a china 1887 last week, its a 28" 05xxx only had 100 shells through it when i got it.
ive fixed up the ejection and moded it so i can load two at a time.

So how do you all load yours? do you drop two strong handed? drop two weak handed? or do you single feed it?
i can't seem to get the drop two weak handed sorted, while holding it up by the lever, only singles.

Pettifogger

All three depending on the circumstances and direction of travel.  Usually use drop two with the strong hand for the first two rounds.  To get the weak hand load to work well your shotgun belt has to hold the shells high.  Grab them in your hand and then pull them straight down into the receiver with your weak hand.

thanks, i had a play after work today, i think i might have the weak hand loading sorted. . . . . i just need lots of practice.
i'm wondering if i should  break out the saw and lose 8 -10" off the barrel, maybe after ive shot it for a bit.

First, before you cut anything can you post a picture?  The Chinese 87s never came with a 28" barrel.  If it is 28" it is a rare (unique) bird.

Measure the barrel from the front of the breech block to the muzzle.  If it is 26" someone installed an IAC 97 barrel.  If it is truly 28" and came from the factory that way it is a very rare piece.  In either event I would not cut it.  There are people looking for long barreled 87s and would gladly trade a shorter barrel version for it or buy it.

710mm, sorry only got a metric tape. thats 27.95" by my calculator
im in new zealand so that'll by why we get 28" 87s

OHHH.  To far to ship for a trade so get out the hack saw if you want a shorter barrel. :)

Scrap the Hack saw, use a pipe cutter for a nice clean cut.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

sorry if i got your hopes up, on closer look the serial number is N50003XX  not 05, that might have given you a clue to the 28" barrel.
