Just received this, it has been fired once or twice and has the box and papers with it. I will be casting some original style conicals today for her and test firing it.

Beautiful piece and great find. I always wondered why not the brass backstrap and trigger guard as on the originals I have seen myself......

actually I think the originals were nickel plated too, it is just the first thing to wear off. I have seen left over nickel plate on a few originals. I personally don't care for it much. Colt had some odd taste in pistol finish. The walker was blued  with case frame and hammer with the cylinder left in the white.

If I'm not mistaken, the originals were silver plated.
That's why they're usually half worn off.

Maybe it is silver, it does tarnish like silver.

If anyone has a colt second or third gen 1851,1860, walker or dragoon with or without a box I would be willing to trade this 1862 with the box and papers for it.
