Howdy, I'm looking for some feedback from anyone who has had a Cobra "Big Bore" derringer. I'm looking at one in .38 spl as a pocket gun, I know the Bond Arms ones are far superior, but I have a price point to be concerned about. Anything ya'll can tell me will be most appreciated.  Thanks!

while I dont own one  a friend on mine does and i can honestly say I dont like the cobra, I have a bond and i like the quality. the cobra  has a very heavy trigger. buy the bond  you wont regret it. you may regret buying the cobra.. good luck

I have a Cobra in .38 & like it a lot.  It's much closer in size and shape to the original Remington than are the Bonds.  The trigger is ridiculously heavy and doesn't pull in a straight line.  Rather, it does a kind of strange pivot thing.  I've had people try to shoot it who couldn't make it go off.  First thing I did was "customize" mine with a file & a whet stone & I've won a number of side matches with it since.  I took the ridges of the hammer so it doesn't make my thumb sore while slip-hammering 7 I can get off two shots pretty quick.

The Bond, on the other hand, won't hardly fit in my pocket & weighs as much as a good six-shooter.

I ended up getting the cobra in .38 and I like it myself. I haven't bothered to lighten the spring pressure, but yeah, the pivot thing is weird to get used to. My wife can't shoot it, but I made it my concealed carry gun.

You guys are making me appreciate my Great Western in .38 S&W a lot more! Original size of the Remington.

I think it's the ideal calibre for the gun. Fired a friend's derringer in .45 Colt. Two loads were enough to convince me.
