I'm going to buy a new 1873 rifle, I'm lost in all the options, Long Hunter, Codymatic,EMF the list goes on. Which rifles seem to be the best value and the most reliable? Thanks

Hoss Shoer,

I have already said this, but I think going to a gunsmith who works on the action just makes sense:

!.) It increases the resell value of the gun

2.) You only have to pay FFL fees once ... rather than a.) buy the gun and pay FFL FEES to have it shipped to your FFL .... then pay the FFL to ship the gun back to have it worked on ... then pay the FFL AGAIN to receive it from the Gunsmith.
3. ) the smith puts a warranty on any parts and services he touches ... then if you go through Cody Conagher, you have Taylor's & Co Behind him ...as opposed to the warranty on the rifle AND parts that vanishes the moment your screwdriver touches the rifle ...

IMHO ...

You may want to look into the new production Winchester 73.

Another vote for Cody Conagher. I have known Cody for around 12 years and I have availed myself of his services during that time. I strongly feel his expertise with the cowboy firearms helped me to be fairly successful in the cowboy game. His word is iron, his loyalty to his customers is exceptional.
I have no experiences with the others. Just Cody.

And I agree with the gunsmith suggestion. Call Cody, tell him Red said Howdy.

Is winchester ever going to do the new 73 in 38 or 44 40?  If I come of the $ for a 73, would like it to be WB legal.
Any Idea as to when of if the Autoloc 73 will hit the street.

A third vote for Cody.  He does great work and goes above and beyond.
