Have any of you Compadres put one of the basic Leatherwood Malcomes, long or short, on your Uberti '76?

If so, would you mind relating your experiences as to ease of installation, the shooting qualities and what/where the empties go when you cycle the action?

Cheers.

The scope mounts work from the rear sight dove tail and the other mount you have to take the dust cover off and the mount slides on that rail where the dust cover was . Then the scope mounts on the side of the rifle , that way the brass has no problems ejecting . I have a short scope on my 1873 now . The mounts work on 76 or 73, not hard to install .

Doesn't a side mounted scope make cheek placement kind of wierd? I'd like to see that set up.

As far as case ejecting goes I barely lever mine out so I don't have to chase the brass all over the place. ;)

Thanks Fellers, just the info I needed. Sounds like it won't work for me, as the side mount deal is not something I can get by with. I've had a look thru a couple of those set-ups on old '94's and the ergos just don't fly for my shooting.

Interestingly, many years ago I saw a guy at a shooting range with an old original '73 with an original Malcome and I thought I remembered that it was mounted over the bore. Can't remember how it worked. Anyhow, guess I'll just stick with the Marble's tangsight I have on her now.

Here are some pics of the one I had mounted on my 73.

Finally took it off as I could not get used to the cockeyed shootiing position! :D  Looked pretty neat.......
