I suspect NCOWS types will apprecate this bit of research

I've had in my family a cup, it came to me from my Great Grandfather William Ragland of Jeffersontown Ky.
It is sterling silver with a makers mark
Scovil, Willey & Co.
Research shows Pulaski Scovil and Bushnell Willey were silversmiths in Cincinnati, OH  1836-1837.
Pulaski Scovil, born 28 Jan 1808, died 26 Mar 1884 ... He was a partner in 1836 with Bushnell Willey in Cincinnati OH as SCOVIL, WILLEY & Co.
Scovil worked as a silversmith in Cincinnati OH from 1830 to 1844.

My cup has Scroll engraved R , I would date the cup 1836-7
I have found a similar cup with an identical rim & base call a Mint Julip Cup
and within 1/8" same in diameter.

That said, I am set for the National Congress of Whiskey Samplers at the convention  :D
So the cup will return home so to speak... ;)
when planets align...do the deal !

Neat!

As I hope you will be drinking the whisky in that cup ....

TTFN,
My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

The cup and you need to return to Louisville for the KY Derby. Mint julips flow like water and a fine vintage julip cup is always appreciated.
