I was gifted a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 ( company Christmas party lottery gift ) latest model .

I know two things... it was one of several high dollar prizes and 2. I won it  :)

that's it ...what it does or can do is TBD (learned I guess)  :-\

I use a laptop and can drive one OK , but how it works I have asked my KID ot the IT Guru at work ..

Well, you can watch tv and movies on it, streamed thru the internet.
Can use it for e-mail & browsing the web.
And makes a dandy e-book reader also.

Here is one place you can see what applications (apps) that you can mess about with:

Since it was a freebie, sell it for as much as you can and donate proceeds to the Red Cross.

Next choice would be to put it towards something you would get more pleasure/use out of.

From recent experience I can say the following:
1. If you want to use it, you will have to have an internet connection. This is usually done through a wireless provider. I use Verizon, but just about everybody has a plan of some sort. There are two ways of doing this. One is if your device has built in 3G or 4G funtionality and it must match the technology that the wireless provider uses.
2. There is a connect fee, it ranges about $20.00 to about $40.00 .
3. There is a monthly usage fee just like your cell phone. In fact they will even assign a cell phone number to your device. The cost will depend on how much you use the thing.
4. If you have a home wireless network, you can use that to connect, but it will only work at home, not while out and about unless you can find a "hotspot". Airports have them and they are free. Other places have them and they are sometimes free and sometimes they charge you for it. The public "hotspots" are NOT as secure as your home or private wireless set up. You can be fairly easily hacked while using a public wireless facility.

Hi,

Most  of the McDonalds and Starbucks out here on the left coast are WII equipped ... don't know about the East Coast.

I am told Hospitals usually have a WII account anyone can use that I am told 'bleeds' out a half block or so ....

Then again , left coast libraries usually have internet connections, and cost about $0.25/hr.

If you travel alot they come in handy versus lugging a laptop around. It's a balance between a smartphone and a laptop, I'd play with it. Give it a month and if its not for you to the sale barn she goes  ;D
