This year represents a difference in my samplings, for I can't partake in any grain based Alcohol.  As much as I like Bourbon,  scotch whiskey & others, they have an adverse reaction on me. They do not raise my blood sugar, but they inhibit my bodies ability to remove them. So if I decline to sample grain based Alcohol, don't be offended. I will bring a couple of Tequilas or sampling. I have found Tequila & Rum have no affect on blood sugar, vodka, haven't tested'

BTW, Tempetons Rye now readily available in Iowa, at the local Walmart with tax $33.00 per bottle. If anyone wants a bottle, let me know.

Hi,

*S* I have this bad reaction to any alcohol too .... after a few (and the number gets less every year) all clothes disappear and I start looking for water ..... and while, when one is hard bodied it is sophomorically cute, it just does not work at this age and state of body.

Once one has heard the comments from the peanut gallery about,"Who put the beluga whale in the hot tub? And, "More importantly, how do we get it out?", somehow drinking alcohol just isn't enjoyable anymore ....
My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

We got started late on Friday . The meeting lasted till midnight . But that didn't slow us down . On Saturday night we had a LARGE gathering of Friends New and Old . Dusty came up with a bottle of Tequila that was the best I had ever drank . I would like to thank everyone for attending and all being good sports .

Rowdy,

Sounds like great people and fun. I wish I could have been there! I might have added some Myers Rum for those with grain allergies. :)
Perhaps, one day?

I have a big trip in the works for mid May. My Naval Aviation Squadron reunion and the N-SSA Spring Nationals the week after. Within about a 4 hour drive from each other. This amounts to at least two weeks and 2000 miles round trip for me. Two birds with one stone in a manner of speaking.
My best.

I can now report with fair confidence that the "National Congress of Old Whiskey Samplers" referred to the age of the participants and NOT the relative age of the spiritous liquors being sampled.

(As a matter of fact some of the spiritous liquors may well have been bottled that very morning of the event.)

Thanks to a jaunty Irish lad who gifted us with miniature enameled tin cups for sampling, we didn't have to risk spilling any because we were forced to use cupped hands.
