Gen Lew Wallace

I just saw Jim Scoutten's Facebook that Bob passed away last night from heart failure.  Huge loss.   :(

"This is my native state.  I will not leave it to serve the South.  Down the street yonder is the old cemetery, and my father lies there going to dust.  If I fight, I tell you, it shall be for his bones." -Lew Wallace, after the 1860 election

Holy crap!  I'm sad that I'll never again see him handle a gun. I had the honor to see him put on an exhibition twice.  Much better in person than he was on TV. I even got to speak to him for a few minutes.  He was a really nice guy. He'll be missed.

RIP Bob.

A controversial figure with an ego bigger than he was. Not criticism. Awesome with a handgun at 20 feet or 200 yards. An icon that will be identified forever with the fastest sport ever.
No jumping the light up there Bob.
My condolences to Becky. May God be with you.

I had occasion to see Bob perform three times, once with his wife. She was almost as good as he was, and better at some things, by his own admission.
Saw him the first time he attempted a 'triple' balloon bust in public. First time he blew it, second time he aced it. Sounded like on shot, but the balloons were 1 yard apart, spaced from 10 to 15 yards away.

I once asked him how he did his six gun magic. He said that he cleared his mind and just did it; and that if he thought about it, he'd probably drop the gun!

My wife told me. She read it in the Butte paper. He was quite a guy. I talked to him several times in Butte. Had him work on a gun for me. I dropped it off in the morning on my way to the range and he had it done when I returned. He was a funny guy. I'll miss him.
