I am looking for an opinion from the wise. I purchase an Uberti 1862 pocket police and when I recieved it the cylinder would over rotate so I sent it off to Stoeger and they repaired it and sent back (10 day total} realy quick. They said they replaced the hand and smoothed it up. It cycles perfectly but the wedge and barrel come off really easy almost too easy. The wedge comes out with one finger ease and if you point the muzzle down the barrel will fall off with wedge out of course. Cylinder end play is correct but should I be worried about the ease of diaasembly. I could see this with thousands of rounds thru it but it has never been fired. Thanks in advance,Southpaw

Oh, that wasn't the wisdom you were looking for.

Sounds like you got a good revolver.  Properly fitted, the wedge should push out with thumb pressure and the barrel should slide off the frame easily.   As long as it isn't loose and doesn't rattle when you shake it, it should be right on the money.  Sounds like you got an action job from Stoeger while they had it.

Unless you have a very unusual Uberti 1862 the arbors on all of these aren't properly fitted to the barrel.  Cylinder end play may seem like it is good now, but after the gun has been fired a few rounds it will vary depending on how far the wedge is shoved in.  To set up everything properly you need to make 100% sure the barrel/arbor fit is correct.  My guess is if you had proper barrel/arbor fit the wedge would not be loose.

Thanks  Fingers and Pettifogger, This thing cycles and locks up perfectly, The wedge comes out with thumb pressure and is seated fully. So I guess my concern is after I run a hundred rounds thru it will it loosen up that much as this thing is so smooth now. Thanks,Southpaw
