Anyone know what weight of thread the Tippman spools are, they look about 4 oz, but they cost about 8 oz or more.  Seems to be a big secret, I couldn't find any info on their site or ebay ads.

The spools I have say 16oz. I think you can order some that is lighter than that. It depends on what size needle you use. I know this is heavier than what come with my Boss machine. I called Tipman and talked to them about what I was doing and wanted a heavier thread, and I bought bigger needles.  I just think my holsters look better with the bigger thread. My opinion. Swinging a rope is alot of fun unless, your neck is in the loop.

Thanks TT!  I was wondering whether Tippman would see my question on ebay, ever.  So thanks for coming up with the answer.

I just came back here to post the response I got that is that the spools are 16oz, and according to them the thread is also pretty stiff.  The Z thread I have used to date is the excellent stuff Tandy sell in 69 only.  But Tippmans sells it in 4 colours, weights from 69 to 400 something.  The Tandy stuff is 4 oz for 25 dollars, or 15 dollars at commercial pricing, so the Tippman stuff is also half to a quarter the price.  Sounds good.  Nylon is strong and the Z stuff is treated to be lower stretch and have a hand more like poly.  I may try some.
