Howdy Y'all

I just went and picked up my 58 Remy that has been at the shop for the last 5 months.   To give you the background my pistol started giving me a lot of problems. First I noticed that when you cocked the trigger the next chamber would not align with the barrel at all.  Then, when you spun the cylinder while in the half cock position the wheel would spin freely (no indexing).  I gave it to the shop where I bought it to let them fix it.

It was at the shop for two months.  When I was told it was ready I went down to pick it up and immediately noticed that nothing was fixed (the hand broke?).  So I rejected taking it back.

The second time I was told it was fixed I went to pick it up only to find that again, it was not fixed. It took another 2 months to find this out.

The third and final time I was told it was fixed (today) I went to pick it up and the pistol does advance the next chamber properly, but the cylinder still free spins.  I should have left it there but by now I've had enough of having to deal with such poor workmanship and service.

I do not trust this pistol enough to shoot it so now it's a door stop.

Has anyone else had this issue and if so what did you do to fix it?

thanky for taking the time to read my post.  I hope it makes some form of sense for I can only see red over this issue.

I've had a few problems with pistols . . . . and simply started learning to fix them myself.   Very satisfying to fix them for yourself.  Just a thought.   :)
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

Seeing your avatar,  I recall, I believe we met at The NCOWS Shoot in Orlando  :) last year.

I suspect I know where you might have gone for your non service ( That's not the GunShop it once was, if I'm correct )

If you are talking to Raven you'll be in good hands .... if he is swamped,  I know another or two....

BTW our next shoot is Nov. 10

when planets align...do the deal !

Thanks Wolfgang and Major.

Wolfgang - thanks for your advice, learning to work on revolvers and bp revolvers is something I need to pick up on.  If it were an semi-auto or select fire type of weapon it wouldn't have been an issue.  I am qualified to work on those types.  Since I've gotten back into single action ( 2- OMV's and growing) I really should...

Major - You are most likely correct.  I will never go back there.  Thank you for you offer as well  :)  I am talking to Raven and he has offered a couple of solutions.  I just need to make a decision and get back to him.

BTW Major - I didn't see you at the last two shoots (NCOWS and SASS)...everything ok?

Major 2

I was at the NCOWs Shoot ( in fact all ) but not SASS ...I was slammed at work June,July Aug. & Sept.
and in Ft. Worth & Los Vegas some too.

the Next NCOW is Nov. 10th (I'm for sure there) and SASS is Nov. 11th. I may do that Sass event as well.

I guess I just missed you.  I will definitely be at the shoot as an observer on Nov 10.  See you there!

Well, If yer' willing to part with yer doorstop, I'd be interested in taking it.  If worst comes to worst, I can use it as a doorstop, too ;) See y'all at the Big Muddy.
