Pick a Paint, war wagon finishing

I like wagons and trailers for shooting. I run a red metal cart for action pistol to carry everything. So it was a no brainer that I'd go with some form of the War Wagon. Not being a wood worker I think it turned out pretty well. I have some holes to fill with putty and sand it down. After that it's ready to paint, because paint hides many sins.

The question is what color would you paint it if it was yours?  I'm thinking a red or a brown but I am open to any other color that you  think would look nice. I still have some trim work to do to pad the gun areas and I need to get my rawhide ties on the rack bar.

You have done a right nice job on that one. With that pine however, I'd primer it before painting it. Softwoods like that have a tendency to soak up the paint irregularly, and can leave it looking sort of blotchy. You may also consider some carpet pieces to keep the cart from marking up the butt ends of your long guns. All in all though it looks pretty good.

Yeah I can line the bottom of the rack because it just sits in there. I'm thinking about some sort of Indian blanket. I got a couple of cans of primer last night to spray on after I get it sanded up.

I settled on Colonial Red for the color. It's a little light and dark but I think it gives it a rough unrefined look.





I might put the blanket in the long box for padding and put my cooler under a canvas tarp up front.

If some of my pals from IDPA were shooting SASS they'd take a nap in it for sure.
