A friend of mine has decided to purchase a Pietta Dance revolver replica and he is wondering if  it will fit in an 1860 Colt holster.   I'm guessing it would be pretty close.  Can any of you shed some light on this?
Thanks in advance for any input.

I just went downstairs and pulled out my Dance & 1860 ARmy (and I knew this anyway but wanted to verify it redundantly). They both fit into the same holster perfectly. This was not a holster molded to a custom fit like some of the more expensive ones. The cylinder is a little shorter on the Dance.

I made a custom one for a fellow and since I didn't have a Dance used an 1860 to fit the holster and the customer said it was a perfect fit.

Yep, I carry my Dance in the same holster as all my 7.5 inch barrel revolvers.

I don'tknow what it is but I REALLY like my Dance. I also swapped off that dufus Pietta Navy grip for some Army grips and it is a nice companion for my '60 Army. I shoot 30grs FFFg in it every time I use it in a match.

Thanks for your input, guys, it is much appreciated.  Thr Dance revolver is enroute and I'll have the opportunity to handle and shoot it as well.  I won't have to make my shootin' buddy a holster, either.

Hellgate - Do you ever have the problem of the Dance dropping a hot fired cap into the palm of your hand while cocking for the next shot.  Really makes me concentrate on follow up shots while a cap is sizzling in my hand.

44 Kid,
I have a secret technique to prevent that: SHOOT LEFT HANDED!!   ;D    The caps just roll off the side.
Being a lefty it is not a problem unless I get lumped into some Frontier Cartridge category 'cause there are not enough cap&ballers then, when shooting two handed, I get the sizzlers dropped between my hands as I cock. I'm pretty good at doing the "parting of the hands" whilst I give my right hand a shake off before I regrip. I wonder if Sam Colt was a lefty 'cause it is easier for me to cap in a hurry by holding the gun in my left hand and the capper in the right.
