After a CAS practice session with my wife, I checked the 'zero' of my Shiloh 50-70 carbine with two loads - smokeless and BP; both loaded with the carbine's preferred 375 gr bullet. Smokeless powder was 28 grs 5744; BP was 60 grs FFg/5 grs 4759.

Two good ol' boys showed up with scoped rifles to check their 'zeroes' and were amazed that I elected to shoot sitting as opposed from the bench. I told them that I wouldn't have a bench handy in the bush.

With my wife spotting, I put a smokeless rd right on POA at 100 and the BP rd printed less than a bullet diameter away. I then amused myself smacking the 100 yd 10" x 12" gong.

They politely let me finish shooting before they commenced .....
