I'm searching for, unsuccessfully so far, load data using Laser-Cast .44 cal 200g RN FP bullet and Winchester 231 powder.  Will be loaded in a Dillon XL650.  I've searched Loaddata.com, the Laser-Cast site, Winchester Powder (Hodgdon) site.  Does anyone have any suggestions.

Ya ask why that particular combination - 'cause that's what I got....

Thanks in advance,
OEJ

You might try searching for HP38 loads, as it is my understanding that it is the same powder.

I have the load book from Laser Cast so have to ask which .44 cal and perhaps I can give it to you. I found for the most part with their bullets (I have tried them for hunting only) you need their book for current load data. Now they don't show W231 but do have loads using BP-38 and others listed. The BP-38 should be close but I would cross reference it against the W231 in a similar load.

Thanks you guys.

I have the Laser-Cast load book also but it didn't show any WW231 loads for my bullet - at least until I learned that 231 is the same as HP38 or BP38.  I'll go back to the Laser-cast book.

thanks again,
OEJ

Not quite OEJ but very close. Here is an example for a 44 Spl using a using a 240 gr Semi Wad Cutter by Laser Cast. One of the few that list 231.

HP-38 is 4.3 gr 648 fps to 4.9 gr at 775 fps
231 is 4.5 gr 661 fps to 5.4 gr 798 fps.

That should help you though get a close safe starting point for them. The two powders are both actually made by Hodgdon but are slightly different but pretty much interchangeable.

The Laser-Cast load data book shows a cowboy load for my 200g FN RP bullets of 4.6 grains of HP-38 yielding a velocity of 735 fps.

Probably a really good starting point.

thanks again,

Yes it should work good for that also as the min. load or a starting place. I would load up a few and work up from there.
