Limited Edition 1 of 5000 "Buffalo Hunter" 1858

A friend of mine gave me this to find out what it might be worth.  It is a brass frame Limited Edition 1 of 5000 "Buffalo Hunter" 1858 with a gold washed engraved 12" barrel with adjustable sights and faux ivory grips.  Any ideas?  It has been fired and has a noticably ringed cylinder.

Hey Wolfgang.  It is a Pietta made critter.  There is a much more fancier one on GunBroker that has a nickel plated frame that is fully engraved and is in a nice presentation box with goodies.  That is the only reference I could find.

The Limited Edition Remington 1858 was a limited edition of 5000 pieces.  They originally came in a glass top case with two revolvers with consecutive serial numbers.  They were sold exclusively through The Sportsman's Guide, Inc.  Serial numbers ran from TSG0001 to TSG5000.  They were manufactured by Pietta.  Original price was $385.  They also came with a certificate of authenticity with the serial number of the gun and was issued by The Sportsman's Guide.  I know of one re-sell of $795 for the cased set.  With all original boxes, literature, and certificate they would be more.  RPRCA has set with Serial # TSG2658 & TSG2659.

YAAAAAY YEEEEHAAAW i got a real on today....Polished up real nice.i think i have a camnel back wooden box it will fit in.Just in time to show it off to my uppity brother in law.I got one and he don't,thanks Dusty but ooowee i don't wanna do that again....to many ifs between there and here...

I was going to pick up one in kit form along with the 8" Texas model in kit form as well. Great looking guns, would look awesome with some stag or ivory grips.
