This wonderful piece of 19th Century technology shipped from the S&W Factory in December of 1889.

It started life as a 6"er and somebody along the way, thought that 4" was handier.

The walnut grips were an option on this model, but not original to this piece.

Pancho...I must admit that you have Style !

Driftwood Johnson

Very nice. How does it shoot? That is a very short front sight, shorter than the originals. The big S&W top breaks tended to shoot high, even with the factory sight. Yours looks filed down. Does it shoot high?

Here is a photo of my 44DA with a nice tall dime that Happy Trails installed for me, to bring the point of impact down to the point of aim.

That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

Pancho Peacemaker

She shoots to point of aim at 10 paces.

I have another 44 DA with a cut barrel that shoots well with a very low front sight.
