The Goose

I have been shooting BPCR's for a few years now using real black powder. I also use black powder in a couple of cap n ball revolvers. However, I have 2 lever guns and 2 revolvers in .45 Colt that I have only used smokeless powder in, mostly Trailboss. This past weekend my wife and I went shooting with another couple and for the heck of it I decided to load up one box of .45's with black powder. All I can say is WOW! I was shooting a Uberti 1858 Remington with a R&D conversion cylinder. It went from a mild pop, pop with the Trailboss boss to BOOM and belching smoke, what a hoot. There ain't no going back now. That was just too much fun.

My story is I was shooting smokeless. I was leaning against the stage while watching the unloading table. I heard this massive BOOM behind me. I jerked around and all I could see was a big cloud of smoke and an 1858 Remington sticking out of it.
I have never shot smokeless at a match since.
