Has anyone noticed a difference between the old (gray) powder and the new (black) powder other than the color, in proformance or loading rate?  I am getting ready to switch over to the new in FFFG.   ???

Pettifogger

APP has gone through several colors.  Light tan, dark tan, light gray, then dark grey, and now it is black.  Maybe you just can't see the dark dust as well as the lighter stuff, but it appears to be less dusty than the older versions of APP.  The dust on your loader has to be blown off daily or it will cause rust.  The dust also builds up and can cause powder measures to bind and progressive presses to slow down or bind.  I haven't loaded that much of the new stuff (still have about 20 pounds of the old), but if it produces less dust that is a valuable improvement.

I have gone through 18 pounds of the new color. It does seem to be less dusty, as I got approximately 50% more loads through the powder measure before having to clean due to excessive binding...this with FFFg for cartridges.

I think the FFg is less dusty as well, but I say that only because I noticed somewhat less of a dust cloud when filling the  hopper on the MEC, which runs fine with either the new or the old for shotgun shells.

I didn't think about it until reading this post. Been using 3F but just last week purchased 2F since that was all the had. Now that you all mentioned it, it does seem to be much less dusty :D. Went to the range yesterday and also thought that maybe it had a little more oomph :o if you know what I mean. Can't tell scientifically, just my instincts at work. All in all, I think it's an improvement over the old batch I finished.

Thanks, been using the it when it was Clean Shot (not so clean) and then AAP;  will load some on the same chargeas I use now  and run it through the crony and let you know what happend both rifle and pistol heard it was a new formula

Grapeshot

Isn't this new APP the same as Goex's Pinacle Powder, which was discontinued when Hogden bought them out?
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.
