Uberti Ladder sight calibrations

Does anyone have an idea of the set range of the lowest sight setting on these sights? To be more specific...what range are they set for initially?  Was sighting in my 66 today and the 44-40 shoots 3" high at 35 yds. How does this calibrate at 100 yds since there is no 100 yd. setting on the ladder itself?  A "ballpark" figure would at least be a start.

The gradient lines om the mast of the ladder sight don't correspond to anything.  They (the marks) look real trick though.  If your rifle and load happen to match one of the settings on the sight, it's purely accidental.

I did a run-up with a .430/210gr. bullet (.142bc) at 1200fps, and a 100 yd zero with 10 yd intervals.

3" high at 35 yards equates to a 100 yd zero, with the bullet never rising more than 3.5 inches above the line of sight.  I think you already have a very practical battle zero.  

Anything else, like a "Gus" match, I think you will have to try it on.

Thank you both for your insights and info. It is a great help, especially the ballistics calculation page. I shall also be using this info for some 44 Spl and 44 mag loads.

Did a range sesion again with the 66/ladder sight and discovered that she is sighted in at 115 yds with 14.5/2400 and 200gr. cast lead bullet.  Sight is a little more difficult to get off fast shots at CAS ranges than former buckhorn but not enough to worry about. Besides, that old buckhorn will straighten up my Rossi/44mag for really fast shots. Expecting to have a great time when both of these are fine-tuned for loads used.
