The 'back door registry' is no more!

The RCMP has told CPFOs to cease and desist on the registry of firearms at the point of sale. The LGR is finally laid to rest .... RIP.

Now to de-criminalize firearms ownership in general. Owning guns under the suffrage of a government is NOT a democratic thing.

Write letters, pards!

As late Dave Tomlinson used to write, the bureaucrats consider every letter from an angry voter as 200-500 angry but silent voters out there.

I've done my part and wrote to every MP and senator a 2 part letter:

1. Thank you note for voting to scrap the registry.

2. Statement that this is not enough and a long list of remaining injustices and rights violations.

All it takes is 2 packs of letter size paper and a box of 500 envelopes, 1 hour of printing, 1 hour of signing and 1 hour of stuffing envelopes to keep the Parliament and Senate on their toes.

OTM

You're absolutely right, but how many gun owners are actually capable or willing to do that? Most are not as erudite or literate as you might hope, barely able to find their own (_*_) with both hands, twice on the same day!
Just a few hundred such letters would constitute a political storm in Ottawa. The summer recess is not far away and MPs will be doing the glad handing routine in their home ridings until the fall.

I've been at this since Basford was PET's Minister of Injustice. I wish I had $10 for every editorial letter, every personal letter to MPs, every FAX, every meeting I organized and attended. We deserve to be where we are as we didn't help ourselves when it mattered.

But - having said that, the peaceful 'Fed Up' rallies failed to achieve much as the Libs were stonewalling to advance their agenda - "The debate is over!"; a debate that never happened.

I encounter younger people who think out gun laws are fine, having grown up in the higher temperature of the water we found too hot. Then I point out the restrictions, prohibitions, bans and guns we've lost since C-68 came to pass and they are shocked.
Couple that with national/provincial police force(s) that have become an embarrassment, answerable only to themselves, and you have a very unpleasant situation rife with opportunities for excessive behaviour of all kinds.
