I have two 1873 Cattlemen that I use for Shooting Cowboy Action. I was shooting yesterday and on the last stage I was clearing the pistols I notice one of the pistols were really getting some serious timing marks on the cylinder and that the cylinder would spend freely much like a Ruger Vaquero.  Also you have to wiggle it a little to get the spent casing out. My other 1873 locks into place each time you turn it so that the round just falls out. Can anyone explain what I need to do to correct this?

Doesn't sound anything like a cylinder problem.  Sounds like a broken hand spring and/ or bolt spring.  Pop it apart and take a look.
