Last Friday I finally got to shoot a test with the little EPP-36 bullets loaded in 38-55 brass.  I shot them from my Winchester Legendary Frontiersman 38-55 rifle.  The cartridges were loaded with WLP primers, 30 grains of FFFg Schuetzen black powder and enough corn meal to give a compressed load when the bullets were seated to the top driving band.  The little EPP-36 bullets were lube/sized to .380" and PL-II lube was used to fill the generous lube grove.  Only enough crimp was used to keep the bullet from falling out.

I shot a three shot group and they all went in one hole.  We patched the hole and did some other shooting.  Then, I thought "why not"?  So, I shot another three shot group and we took a photo with Pukin' Dog's phone camera.  The photo is attached.

We were shooting at 25 yards and you can judge the results.  The overlapping holes tell the story.

This should make a great low recoil, low noise camp meat getter.  It's not intended for 100 yard shooting, but it sure surprised me.  I'll be using it on bunnies around my spread.  It'll be more fun than plinking them with my .22.

It appears that squirrels and rabbits are in dire danger.  I can see squirrel and dumplings, fried squirrel, etc.  Ditto for wascally wabbits.

Have lots of fun!

Hey Dick,
Have you sever tried that bullet in the 38SPL/357mag? I'm thinking it might work for those calibers in both pistol; and rifle. I'm wondering if that might be a good bullet for light recoil "gamer" loads in the 38cal pistols. I see the lube groove ought to accomodate a .358"dia sizer but still pack a lot of lube.

She weighs in at 90 grains and has very thin driving bands.  It just may be that it can be sized down to 38Spl/357Mag size.  I'll push one thru my die and see how it looks and report back.

Sure shoots great out of my 38-55.

Also, FWIW, Curly bought a mold and has been shooting them in his 51 open tops.  A mission for which this bullet was intended.  He's been shooting clean matches with it.  Sounds good, huh?

Looks like it would be a good bullet for a .38 S&W sized to .360.  Anyone tried it before?

I don't own a 38 S&W, but the thin driving bands might well size down to .360.  If anyone wants to try it I'll send them some EPP-36 bullets, but I want a report back.

Dick:  I received them yesterday.  Had to order a .360 resizing die, it should be here by Tuesday.  We will see how it works.
