Yo the Fire.

I have posted before about shooting my 1866 which was converted from 44 special to 44 russian.

Since it is a straight walled caliber the reciever of the gun gets filthy but in a two day match the gun functioned flawlessly.

I shot it for the Blue Ridge Round-up - two day match without a full cleaning after the first day.

No hiccups, no misses!

Special thanks to my Gunsmith for doing the conversion and to Adirondack Jack for developing the converted lifter assembly.

I love shooting my 1866 when shooting my Russian OT's or my 44 C&B guns.

Sometimes I mix it up and shoot my 38 spl OTs or 51 conversions with the bigger rifle too...

Now to convert my French 1873 St E revolvers to 44 russian too!

I shoot the same setup and love it.  My 66 was originally .44 Spl. (as were my OTs).  Shooting the .44 Russians in both gets as close as you can get to original .44 Henry Flat - dimensionally, that is - without shooting heeled bullets.
