Picked up a three pack of movies at Wal Mart. They are all 'Hallmark' movies. One is titled 'Avenging Angel' starring Kevin Sorbo. Typical Hallmark western, but, what intrigued me was the fact that he was carrying a Colt conversion and the belt and holster were correct. The holster had an interesting silver band at the muzzle. Not a cap or ring either. Looked like a band clamp, but out of silver/german silver and riveted at the seam the whole rig was black with cartridge loops. Interested me enough that I am considering making a 'inspired' copy.

If you do please show it to us.  That is the period and styles that l like best.  Was the set of movies found at a national outlet?

Yep, that's the one! I gotta admit, that is one sweet rig! Simple, efficient and that silver band sets it off. The other two movies are The Pledge with Luke Perry and Lone Rider with Lou Diamond Phillips. Haven't watched them yet, but, if they are as good as the first one, it may change my mind abour Hallmark movies...

I am a big fan of their westerns.  I am sure that some of the younger generation would prefer more excitement in a movie but that just causes this old guy to have nightmares!  Looks like they might have been coping the California Slim Jim set that I like so much in the Packing Iron book?

It's nice to see someone using correct gun leather in a movie.

I watched the Shadow Riders last night with Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott and was wondering why would it have been so hard to make the holsters correct. I mean I think that all the time with movies, in this film they didn't have fancy show off rigs so why would it have been so hard to make them in a correct style.

It can't be that hard, I mean we all here know what is right so why can't they get someone to make it right. I know at one time in movies the gun leather was wrong because they were dramatizing the fast draw and the fancy gun rigs that never existed.

Now days in movies like this one they go to extremes of keeping their holsters very simple but do a stupid drop down deal with hammer ties and tied to their leg.

My nephews other uncles are producers here, they do christian movies for the most part, thier latest venue is titled Couragous.I keep telling or asking them to do a western style movie as this is a great time to do one,and i tell them when and if you do please let me know,i know all the folks that can do the leather and are very period correct ;D :) :) :)
Maybe get them to do one starring Randy Travis as he likes and does fast draw and spinning and such, they did one movie with him already.
