Rusty Silver SASS# 58957 (aka Trumpet)

Alright,
As I gradually gather all my "booty" for CAS, I come to the matter of shotguns. Now, I have two options.

Option one: take my already existing Springfield (model 1915) SXS and have the barrel cut down, chokes, action slick-up, reblue.

Option two: Get EAA, Baikal, Norinco, Liberty (recommendations on which one?).

Now my question is; How much would a 'smith likely charge me for "option one"? I'm imagining, for the money it would cost, I could buy a whole new one ready to go.

Thoughts?

On your Option #1, I why cut the barrel down? I know many pards that shoot full-lenght SxS.

I'm with the Kid on this one. I have shot everything from an 18" coach gun to a 34" goose gun. I much prefer the longer barrels. My main match gun is an American Arms with 28 1/2" barrels.  As for the reblue, I wouldn't worry about it. It won't make the gun shoot any better. ;D

My Baikal SxS was 26" tubes. I use it for bird hunting also.

I'm riding with this posse -- don't cut those barrels, shoot that puppy and bust those targets !  If you decide on shorter barrels then shop around on the various sites, deals are still there but you gotta look! Just MHEO

Don't cut a good gun.  If it works, why fix it?

I'm saddling up with this posse also. Do not cut the barrels, there are plenty of affordable short barreled shotguns to be had. It was the thing to do at first, but I am seeing a lot more longer barreled shotguns at shoots.
