Do you use a double strong side or a strong side with cross draw. Please tell why . and what guns do you favor in hand guns, and caliber.

The Arapaho Kid

I find the cross draw and the "Cross Draw Two Step" very awkward, so I don't use them.  I shoot well with either hand, so I don't need to the the switch.  Pistols?  Two Navy Arms sixshooters in .32-20 caliber.

Presidio

I shoot Duelist with a crossdraw.  My strong being Right handed and my using my left fer balance.  My irons are a 5 1/2" Remi '58 on my RH strong and crossdraw with a 7 1/2" Remi '58.  Both are R&D 45LC.  I lead off with my shootin time with the crossdraw then RH strong because I pivot on the lead left foot toes with the twisting of my waist.  Works out fairly well fer me, but, to some I been told I should lead off with my RH first so I can shave a couple of seconds off'n my score time.  Probably right, but, that's jest me.  I'm not a gamer, I jest shoot fer the fun of it ;D!

I use weak side draw with cross-draw ;D  Why?  Physical difficulties force me to do so.  However, I have always liked the look of the cross draw and would choose that no matter what.

I shoot .38 for economical reasons, but would rather shoot .45... more boom ;D ;D ;D ;D

Use L R duelest rig by Kirkpatric, but prefer crossdraw, butt foward--this is not allowed by SASS.  An fer good reason, but is easer to shoot double huckleberry from wheelchair.

Colts, 357 7&1/2" barells. :) ::)

I use both type rigs. Cross draws in .45 and .38 and double strong in 38-40. I prefer the Colt type revolvers and have an NRV in .45( closer to the Colt than the OM Vaq) and an EAA Big Bore Bounty Hunter 7 1/2"er. In the .38's, a Cimarron Model P 5 1/2" and an EAA Big Bore Bounty Hunter 4 1/2"er. The 38-40's are two 4 3/4" EMF Hartfords..............Buck 8) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

This may be a bit of a touchy reply to your "Q", but a true consideration.  I used a strong right, and a crossdraw for a long time. But as I have continued to gain girth, the crossdraw became impractical, because I had to keep moving it further forward on my belt in order to reach it with my strong side (right) hand, and finally, it has come to the point that it is too close to my "belly button" to pass the "two fists" rule.  So, I now must consider a conventional double straight rig, and either start shooting double duelist, or gunfighter, or do the "hand off shift".   :-\ :(

Well, I use a crossdraw rig, only cause I'm afraid I'll drop a gun trying to transfer it from left to right.  I feel more secure grabbing my guns with my right hand.  Besides, I kinda like that crossdraw dance - I do it unthinkingly now.  It's all what you're comfortable with and what you like!  My 32 Ruger Single Six birdheads do me just fine, although I did take a liking to MM's New Vaquero.....

Crossdraw for me. .45 LC blued Ruger Vaqueros (5.5"), .45LC blued octagon-barrelled Uberti '73, and a blued 12-gauge ChiCom Slave Labor '97. Ladies 49er.  ;D

Two straight side holsters for me. I don't like to dance unless I've had too much to drink, and they don't let you drink firewater at a shoot.

Two strong-siders for me.  I don't want to have to remember to "dance" when I'm shooting.

jiminy criquet

Duelist shooting with the left hand out of the left strong side holster, and the right hand out of the right strong side holster.

One of these days I'll switch to gunfighter.

Oh, and shortened 1858 Remington cartridge conversions in .45 ACP with a Navy model backup piece in .38 Special.

Birdgun Quail

I have two straight draw holsters for my .45 Colt 7.5-inch barreled Cimarron Model Ps.  The reason I went with straight draws is because before I ordered my rig, most folks said they had switched from a cross draw to straight draws, but none from straight draws to a cross draw.  Plus, two straight draws provide an opprotunity to shoot double duelist or gunfighter.  I started out shooting duelist and still do.
God bless,

Silver Creek Slim

Double strong side 'cuz I shoot either double duelist or gunfighter. I hate the cross-draw dance.  >:( Currently using SS Bisley Vaqueros in .45 Colt and 1875 Remington Uberti clones in .44-40 with BP, of course.

My 7 1/2" on strong side, and my 4 3/4" or 5 1/2" in the crossdraw. But I am getting tire of the "dance" and will soon switch to a left and right strong.
When I am out in the desert, I go with the 7 1/2" in crossdraw.

...besides, I never wuz too good at dancin'.
