:D I got me a Spencer! I bought a pre-owned Taylors Armisport Spencer in 56-50 from a gentleman here in Texas. I drove down south of Comanche Texas and met with him and bought the gun on sight. The gentleman told me it originally belonged to gun smith and it had been "tuned". He was right on... The gun has a serial number of 12XX. I am not sure when Taylors and Armisport started importing and making these fine guns but I believe mine was bought originally in 2004?

I think this Spencer has real nice case colors and is in great condition. Let me know what you all think?

On the way back I stopped and tested my Spencer. I was able to score a couple boxes of Tenx ammo from Cabelas. The gun has a silky smooth action and chambers a round with one finger effort. My little scale puts the trigger pull at between 6 and 8 pounds. I hung a paper plate and paced off 50 steps. I shot off-hand to get a feel for the gun and put all 7 rounds on the paper with most hitting in a 5 inch group. I am confident that this carbine will do much better than that when I can get out and shoot under a little more controlled situation.

I thought it was very cool to be shooting a Spencer in the Comanche Texas area and could only wonder how many Spencers, under what circumstances and in whose hands have been fired in this part of Texas since 1860.

I like your heater - I would love to get a repro one to shoot as it is too difficult out here in the Antipodes to get new ammunition to fire my early original although I have got some original ammunition - it isnt a good idea to try shooting off originals in any case as I discovered that my original .41 copper cased rimfires wouldnt go off though some 1890 Maritini .450/577 ammo did go off a treat.
