19th century hats lined, or unlined?

I am about to order a hat from River Junction Trading Co., and they offer the hat line, and unlined.  Which is more period correct for an 1870's, early 1880's hat?

Either, good hats were lined, cheap ones wern't always lined, just like today.

Go with the lined, you'll never regret it.  They are cooler in the hot and warmer in the cold and as Del said are normally of better quality.
