I grew up in this area where the silent film star Wm. S. Hart wrote back and forth with Wyatt Earp, and later his widow.
Bill Hart's ranch is located in Newhall, CA and after his death it was willed to the County of Los Angeles. The Santa Clarita Historical Society shared the original letters but can be viewed. My maternal grandfather worked for Mr. Hart on this ranch while a teen and stayed in the bunkhouse, now the docent's office. It's a lovely park and houses a terrific collection of Native American art. There are many animals including a small herd of bison. There was a huge dam break called the St. Francis Dam disaster in March 1928. William Mollholand was the designer of the dam, there were 450 that perished when the water traveled over 50 mi. to the sea to Ventura. Mr. Hart and the local cowboys helped bury the dead even if there were no identification.  Thought this bit of history was worth passing along to us "cow folk" ;D

Those are pretty neat. I've been a fan of the Earps as well as several others.
