how many do there own gunsmith work? Example, putting in lighter springs and smoothing the action by polishing them.

Doc Shapiro

I do some stuff and send other stuff out.  Depends on the work that needs doing and the tool requirements.  For example, I don't have a welder or a mill.  So anything I can easily do with hand tools I will.  If it requires more tooling, it goes out.

I change/thin springs and polish actions if I have a schematic and step by step disassembly/assembly instructions. That's about all I do, if it needs more than that I give it to a pro.

Rarely does someone work on mine other than me.  It's happened 'n I need somethin' done right now I can't do.

Did send a Ruger that inisisted on lockin' up back to 'em for repair 'n 'nother to be rebarreled.  Does that count?

All I did was name it 'n get it started. The posse made it great. A debt I can never repay. Thank you, mi amigos.
