The Debate is NOT Over

When Canadian gun owners were in opposition to Bill C-68, they were told to shut up; "The debate is over ...." - Justice Minister Anne McClellan; suck it up, it's for the greater good, etc. Civil libertarians were not supportive, saying that if we were doing nothing wrong, we had nothing to worry about.

Now Public Safety Minister Vic Toews is using the Conservative majority to ram through C-30, a bill to allow law enforcement agencies wide latitude for internet snooping. This is being touted as a needed tool for combating child pornography and already has the backing of the Canadian Chiefs of Police organization.
Civil libertarians are up in arms (pardon the pun) and those that oppose the bill are being labelled as being in support of child pornographers.

Where were these 'libertarians' when millions of gun owners were made outlaws and paper criminals by C-68 and numerous Orders In Council? Why aren't they concerned when the RCMP is the sole arbiter of what guns we can or cannot own based on calibre, colour and shape?
Why weren't they concerned about the invasive questions asked on the PAL application form? What about OUR rights to privacy and property?

So, I say to them - Suck it up, cupcakes! If you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about. It's for the greater good.

"Of all tyrranies, a tyrrany sincerely exercised for the good of it's victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.
The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."   C.S. Lewis
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do these things to others and I require the same from them."  John Wayne
