'T'ain't a '74, it's a Transitional Model '75. The very rifle is pictured on page 245 of Frank Seller's book.

"Model 1875 Long range Rifle. The only complete surviving specimen of this model, was exhibited at the Centennial exhibition at Philadelphia in 1876.
It has a 34" round Rigby type barrel in calibre .45 2.4" and an extremely fine Circassian walnut stock. After the exhibition it was sold to Colonel John Bodine for the sum of $300. Less than a year later he had the barrel changed to the one that is presently on the gun."

No mention of the original chambering. Presumably 45-70.

BEUTIFUL rifle.
I would love to have it. But I guess I will have to settle for hanging a picture of it on the wall, righ next to my Milla Jovovich poster.  ;)
