Jefro, thanks for the answer and advice.  I will get some ptfe.  I am also going to look at a few Colt reproductions in 4.5 as possible future gotta haves.   ;D
A feller on Gunbroker has a bunch of Uberti Cattleman Hombre for $250 each, great deal if your on a budget. They are the same fine Uberti Cattleman, they just have a matte black finish with brass grip frames. Add a Gunslinger spring kit and yer good to go. If you want something really nice the Cimarron Frontier is great gun, real case hardening and factory action work, I love mine. Like I said in an earllier post we use the GW II for CFDA, both the Frontier and GW II are made by Pietta. Heather also uses the GW II for SASS with the Cowboy 45 Special brass, best of both worlds. One thing I like about the Uberti and Pietta is the full size wood grips. Good Luck :)

I bet that wax bullet will hurt like Hell when I shoot myself in the foot with it while trying to do a fast draw. Still looks like fun.
I can tell you it does :'(. There are several easy options to prevent this. Add a toe plug or cork in the bottom of the holster, or install a deflector shield with a Chicago screw. Good Luck :)

I have always been intrigued by fast draw.... well, at least since I was a kid watching westerns.  ;)  I only learned about CFDA a couple of years ago and thought that it would be interesting. While I have visited the CFDA site and forums, it was only few weeks ago that I met a CFDA competitor at a recent gun show...The closest CFDA events are about 3 hours from me.

One of the things I have learned about people here is that while they like the "toys", they don't like to compete (this goes for "individual skill" sports in general). It is just part of the mentality of the people where I live..."every one gets a trophy, just for showing up" types are rampant where I live.

I have watched a few of the CFDA videos and I will say that those guys are insanely fast. I will admit that some of the folks doing it look like they could fall over backwards though.  ;D
