Hi everyone
can anyone tell me if there is anything else i can thin dye with, i use Fiebing's leather dye and oil dye and have used the leather dye reducer also from Fiebings,  im happy with the results but the price is killing me at £18 a bottle, so was wondering if there was something else i can use that is a little cheaper.

many thanks
john ;)

I'm not using Fiebings but I do thin dyes with Wally-World brand alcohol.  The dye brand I use does not offer many color choices and I reduce its effect with the alcohol frequently.

Massive

Denatured alcohol/mentholated spirits.

Some people are using Isopropyl.  At least in my neck of the woods, that stuff is very sketchy as to what is in it.  You have to read the label.  Some places sell cheap raw alcohol for drinking, and that stuff is nice.

Obviously try thinning a small amount, and try a sample.

+1 for WalMart cheap denatured alcohol.

Eloy Santa Cruz

I know Chuck Burrows uses 70% isopropyl alcohol. After learning this I have done the same and no problems. It's much cheaper too.
My monikor comes from my family's former ranch Santa Cruz Farms located outside Eloy, Arizona. The Santa Cruz river runs through the land.
