new Spencer 1865 carbine by Taylor .45colt

Hello, I am getting my first Spence in a day or two.  I choose one in 45 colt as I reload for that round already.  A few questions please.  Any type of bullet to stay away from?  I plan to load at normal Colt loads and +P.  If I need it hotter I have a Sharps carbine for that.  Any parts that would be a good idea to hang to?
Looking forward to shooting it.

The same restrictions that apply to any tubular magazine apply to the Spencer.  OAL on cartridge length is critical, so keep the bullet's Ogive in mind.  I would caution you about loading the Spencer up to +P loads- I fear it would be a good way to wreck a beautiful rifle

Make sure you stick with flat point bullets. Are you loading with black ppowder?  I have one of the Lyman black powder loading manuals{2nd Editon} that show different bullet types and the different powder loads for 45colt. The only difference that I can see between the rifle and the revolver loads is the muzzle velocity. The powder charges are the same. the bullets will be moving around 200 fps faster out of the carbine due to longer barrel length

I'm going to shoot it with smokeless for the time being.  I am though, in the process in purchasing the componts to mold cast bullets.  Buying this Spencer has put this back a bit.  Still, I'd do again.
