Is the NV available in birdshead? Wanting to get a pair of .357 for CAS and thinking about some birdsheads. Will the Montado/SBH hammer work for a birdshead? I had one of the old BH's in .45LC but with the 3.5" barrel. Was a great shooter and felt good in my hand just wished it was a little longer. After I'd gotten it then they came out with the 4 &5/8"....Does anyone use a 4 &5/8" dirdshead in .357? Any opinions will be welcome.
All you need is love and a .45

Pettifogger

Not available on the NMV.  The Montado/SBH hammer will fit.

Ruger never made a New Vaquero in BH that I know of.. And I don't think they will.
I have called last year about that and it didn't sound like they will in the near future!
I have a Birdshead Vaquero in .357 CH 4-5/8" I think it handles real well for me. I tried my 5-1/2 New Vaquero and that BH the same day.
I like the Birdshead a lot so I cannot chose which one id better either.
I am looking for a BH Vaquero in .45LC now!!! I have a couple in .32 H&R as well. Of course they are really Single Sixes I guess.

At a recent gun show, I handled a birds-head grip New Model vaquero in .45 ACP.

The Ruger web site lists 'distributor exclusives" that are birds-head guns.

WOW that is something I did not expect. However won't help someone in Massachusetts as we never get the exclusives Mass compliant!!! Too much trouble for Ruger and expense.
We can only wait & hope.

Does it require specific model variants to pass the test? A Vaquero is pretty much a Vaquero. Thes "exclusives" are just cosmetic differences of fiinish, caliber, barrel, and grip.

You could defect to a free country, too. Just sayin'.      ;D

For a dealer to sell a handgun the model number has to be on the AG's list!
So if there is a letter different than what is on the list it is not legal!
Mass. Is not a free state by any means. Hell, we invented Healthcare too!! Had it for ten years already.
Mass gun laws are probably the worst in the country!
Look on Rugers web site at a handgun then look at the left side . You will see what is mass compliant!

I have a NM Vaquero with the birdshead grip in. 45lc.  It has a lowered and widened hammer on from the factory.
