Later on this evening my wife & I will go to church.  Just before midnight the church is darkened.  At midnight, the priest comes out from behind the Icon Screen with one candle.  He shouts "Kristos Aneste" (Christ is risen!) and the flame is passed on to other candles until everyone has a light.  We then troop outside and circle the church to pass the good word to everyone.

Happy Easter Pards.  Just got back from a FEAST at our church hall.  Boy, is it fun to finally break that 40 days of fasting!  I had a great time, and managed to refuse the offer of dancing on a table!  Bin Dere Dun Dat.  Don't want to make it routine!

Well!  Another year has passed.  Today is the Eastern Churches Easter celebration, the most important event of the Christian Faith.  Same thing as the Western Easter, but calculating the date to celebrate is slightly different, having to do with delaying until after Passover.  Of course the Last Supper was during Passover, and the Bible gives a pretty precise timeline until the Resurection. The dates coincide every fourth year.

What cheeks? I only say that to the women. In my church you get to kiss all the women right on the mouth, but it is considered appropriate to keep your tongue in YOUR mouth.
