I have a Cimarron Evil Roy in 45 LC. What bullets/loads can I shoot in it for hogs? I know in the 1873 Rifles you cannot shoot a hunting/heavier load.

I will say you cannot use heavy loads like the one marked plus P or Ruger only. The standard loads should be fine I've shot Hornady critical defence round out of mine and some winchester jacketed hollow points and had no trouble.

I've shot several feral hogs here in Texas using the standard cowboy loads from Black Hills. Kills em just like my 30-30 does, only with bigger holes.  ;D

That's good to know. Right now they are dead on with the Black Hills. How far of a shot? I have tons of hogs and exotics i want to try them on too.

As far as you can routinely hit a 6-8 inch paper plate would be a good range.

You should take a serious look at the anatomy of a hog. They have shoulder blades that act like bulletproof vests. Here is a pretty good start:

Seriously those shoulder blades have stopped or deflected some pretty powerful rounds. In hog hunting bullet placement is just as if not more important than what caliber of gun you are using.
