I've pretty much felt, over the years, that we were using too much gun to kill Bambi.

I agree, last time I checked deer weren't wearing body armor.  I think it comes down to the small/high velocity thinking, "smaller and faster has to be better, right?"  Nothing against small high velocity, I have several 30 cal. that I love to shoot out to a 1000 yards, but figure there a bit much for brush hunting deer.

While I don't shoot the .44s have used the .45 PRS to take several deer, both with revolvers and with my 92 Rossi. And just fer a hoot I tried them in sabots in my .54 front stuffer. They shot at least as good as anything I ever tried in it.

Howdy FCK,

Have you hunted Northern Wisconsin?  Lately?  I've hunted it for over 50 years.  I know about the Wi DNR BS.  The sheet you reference is standard DNR dogma.

The White Tail Deer numbers are DOWN.  The culprit is the wolves.  A wolf eradication policy has been evolving and it now looks like there is some light at the end of the tunnel.  It's not a DNR policy.
