I have always liked SAA and wanted one so when i got the chance to by this 1873 cattleman new from a local gunshop i jumped on it. I witnessed him buy it from the orig owner, who had it NIB for over a year and never shot it. So i am the second owner but the first to shoot it. I shot fifteen rounds yesterday and noticed sparks coming from the front of the cylinder, where it meets the barrel when firing. I am shooting with Remington .45 LSWC. Is this normal? (forgive me i have always stuck to auto's both rifles and pistols)
I have read my fair share about questionable quality from uberti and the metallurgy being less than satisfactory (after i bought it ofcourse) and also am wondering if this is one to shoot every once in awhile or is it ok to run it thru its paces?
-Thank You

You should see any Revolver fired at night you'll really enjoy the fireworks.
Yes it is normal,  even spits of lead can and is expelled.

Shoot your Uberti as you like... they are well up to the task.

You did notice there is a gap between the cylinder and the barrel?  It is perfectly normal (and inevitable) for gas to escape through that gap.  Uberti revolvers are a mainstay of SASS shooting and people regularly shoot tends of thousands of rounds through these guns per year.

Thanks fellas I hated to sound like a novice, but only way you can learn. thought about selling it but ill probably hold on to it shot the snot out of it. Best place to buy ammo (.45 lc) in anyones opinion? how about parts for one of these pieces?

Thanks again

Parts, VTI.  Ammo, where ever you can find it.  Most people that shoot CAS matches load their own for two reasons.  First, cost.  Second, most CAS ammo is downloaded to reduce recoil.
